Senior Flight Software Engineer - Supersonic Aviation

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy robust, real-time flight software systems for our supersonic aircraft. You'll be instrumental in building the core flight software stack that powers our vehicle—from avionics and control loops to data handling and system diagnostics.

This is a high-impact role with a direct line to flight.

What You’ll Do

• Architect and implement safety-critical flight software in C/C++ for real-time embedded systems.
• Develop software for guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), data buses (e.g. ARINC 429, CAN, Ethernet), and hardware interfaces.
• Work closely with avionics, propulsion, and systems engineers to define and integrate software requirements.
• Lead software validation and verification (V&V) activities, including simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and flight testing.
• Contribute to software certification efforts under DO-178C or similar standards.
• Help shape the software development roadmap and mentor junior engineers.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of experience in real-time embedded software development, ideally in the aerospace or automotive industries.
• Proficiency in C/C++ , with a solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal environments.
• Experience with flight software architecture , state machines, data buses, and fault tolerance.
• Familiarity with avionics systems, GNC algorithms, or control systems.
• Strong software development practices: version control, unit testing, code reviews, CI/CD.
• Experience with DO-178C, ARP4754A, or other aerospace safety standards is a big plus.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, experimental startup environment.

Bonus Points

• Prior experience working on flight software for UAVs, rockets, or piloted aircraft.
• Experience with Python or MATLAB for rapid prototyping and analysis.
• Hands-on experience with HIL setups and embedded debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Passion for aviation, sustainability, and high-speed travel.
