Job Description

G.W. Mitchell Construction (GWM) , a premier, quality conscious General Contractor is looking an experienced Superintendent to join our team. Candidates with a passion for making things happen are encouraged to apply and join our Team serving San Antonio and the surrounding area.

The superintendent leads, directs, and coordinates the work of subcontractors and GWM trade labor in the field for various types of projects and is responsible for the successful completion and safety of the overall project. The right candidate will be able to work outside normal working hours in order to limit disruptions to the tenants in occupied buildings and to facilitate fast paced, short duration construction schedules.

Responsibilities

• Managing and making decisions related to the performance of work related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control and trade employee staffing levels.
• Managing the overall site safety program as required and ensuring subcontractor compliance with GWM standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations.
• Creating schedules and determining sequencing of work. Developing and implementing strategies to maintain project schedule.
• Communicating with owners and architects/engineers in connection with field issues. Investigating and resolving issues.
• Managing the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
• Leading project inspections, startup, commissioning, turnover and training process, and punchlist required for acceptance and handover.
• Keeping detailed daily records.

Qualifications & Required Skills

• 5 to 7 years of construction related experience
• Strong leadership skills
• Functions effectively as part of a team
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
