Job Description
We’re hiring a
Project Engineer II to support large-scale infrastructure and heavy civil projects. This role bridges the field and office, assisting Project Managers in tracking operations, analyzing production data, and ensuring seamless project documentation. Approximately 75% of your time will involve field engagement—gathering measurements, coordinating with field crews, and supporting daily construction activities.

Key Responsibilities - Support the full project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout in coordination with PMs and Superintendents
- Maintain and update look-ahead schedules, field measurements, and cost tracking
- Prepare submittals, RFIs, transmittals, daily diaries, dispatch orders, and material tracking documents
- Perform on-site data collection and measurement verification for progress payments
- Conduct safety inspections and submit incident reports as needed
- Coordinate and submit permit applications, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract documentation
- Create and maintain extra work reports; track approval signatures and project logs
- Analyze daily production performance and report insights to management
- Maintain quality control documentation and ensure subcontractor compliance
- Attend project meetings, client updates, and site visits as required
- Serve as the PM’s "eyes and ears" on the jobsite—reporting potential issues, budget variances, or delays
Preferred Tools & Technologies - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Scheduling tools: Primavera P6 or MS Project
- Takeoff and field tools: AGTEK, HCSS Heavy Job, HCSS Plans, Bluebeam
- Accounting software: Spectrum or similar ERP
- Familiarity with field management software and mobile reporting tools
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting civil or commercial construction projects
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites
- QSP Certification for SWPPP compliance preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
- Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in both field and office environments, including nights or overtime when needed
Work Environment & Physical Requirements - Majority field-based with some office duties
- Must be able to walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to construction site conditions including dust, noise, and weather
- May require night shifts or extended hours to meet project deadlines
