Hybrid role in Boston MA. Our client is seeking a Firmware Engineer.

Rate: $65 - $75 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:

• Work with the team to set quarterly departmental goals and metrics.
• Experience with vehicle OBD and CAN stack.
• Identify and evaluate potential partners for telematics solutions and opportunities that mitigate risk and align with the business.
• Serve as the technical point of contact for multiple onshore manufacturing partners.
• Experience with FCC, PTCRB, and UK/EU RF regulatory certification for connected devices.
• Ability to architect hardware, firmware, and backend technologies to solve business problems.
• Experience designing and developing end-to-end connected devices involving RF, Embedded, and IoT products.
• Provide full lifecycle software development, including: Requirements gathering, Design, Development, Testing, Production deployment, Documentation.
• Experience with technologies such as RFID, Wireless 3G/4G, and Bluetooth.
• Ability to creatively solve both short-term and long-term business problems.
• Technical experience with automotive-grade devices to ensure product safety.
• Work with technicians on custom cables and manufacturing of cables and harnesses.
• Manage test engineering for connected devices.
• Secure buy-in from stakeholders within Zipcar.
• Translate business requirements into technical requirements, and vice versa.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices for connected fleet management.
• Provide support for existing in-production devices.

Experience Requirements:

• 8-10 years + of Embedded C/C++ Development.
• EDUCATION: BSEE or Computer Sci
• Telematics and or Onboard Diagnostics, or CAN BUS,.
• Bluetooth and or Cellular.
• background dealing with in vehicle devices.
• Experience with Arm Core Processors.
• RTOS
• Oscilliscopes, Logic Analyzers
• Track record of working closely with device manufacturing to deliver on schedule and budget.
• Experience leading mechanical designs (preferable, but not required).

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
