Job Description

Job Title: Finance Manager

Supervisor: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary: The Finance Manager is directly responsible for the overall accounting operations. This position will play a vital role in overseeing and managing financial operations to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources in support of the Center for Child Protection’s mission. The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or graduate degree in accounting preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting with previous experience as a staff accountant
  • Knowledge of GL, PR, AR, AP
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial report preparation
  • Knowledge of GAAP and IRS codes as they relate to 501(c)3 corporations required
  • Experience with QuickBooks required
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently while applying strong critical thinking skills to solve problems and make informed decisions

Job Tasks:

  1. Performs all accounting functions, including reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts, A/P, A/R, FF&E and general ledger
  2. Supervises staff accountants in day-to-day activities
  3. Serves as the primary liaison to staff for finance questions
  4. Deposits and process’ all donations and payments through financial institution online interface
  5. Coordinates payment of all outstanding payables
  6. Reviews payroll and reports any variances to HR prior to submission
  7. Enters payroll into QuickBooks, ensuring proper calculation of payroll tax liabilities
  8. Works with HR to enter 401(k) Safe Harbor into QuickBooks
  9. Works with the Chief Strategy Officer to document required financial information for grant proposals, and reports; prepares monthly requests for reimbursement; ensures grant activity in QuickBooks is current and accurate and coordinates to ensure grants are properly allocated and expended
  10. Prepares monthly financial statements for Board Meetings
  11. Works with Event Managers to account for, secure, and transport all donations received at events, manages receipt of all incoming donations, ensures donation activity in QuickBooks is current and accurate
  12. Performs oversight of any necessary financial reports related to fundraising events, to include coordinating standards, budget preparation and budget vs. actual analysis
  13. Develops management reports in cooperation with CEO
  14. Assists with independent annual audit and filing of IRS Form 990
  15. Prepares IRS Forms 1099, W2-G, and 945
  16. Researches, as necessary, new and existing legislation in effort to comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements; enforce adherence to requirements and advise management on needed actions
  17. Attends monthly staff meetings
  18. Provides program support for forensic, clinical, and medical services, as needed
  19. Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the mission, core values and vision of the Center and the children’s advocacy model
  20. Performs other duties as requested
