About the Company

Skyfall Biologicals Louisiana site is a new development and commercial site with novel chemical processes.

About the Role

Apply chemical engineering fundamentals to support safe design of pilot scale and commercial scale chemical processes. Provide technical advice and support for safe development work at pilot scale, process troubleshooting, and optimization at commercial scale.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including ownership of the Process Safety management Program.
  • Monitor and analyze data from processes and experiments.
  • Assist Operations to develop procedures used to safely operate chemical processes at pilot and commercial scale.
  • Assist in specifying equipment, overseeing system installations, investigate performance, innovative technology, and working with equipment vendors.
  • Troubleshoot problems with chemical processes.
  • Evaluate chemical equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Implement programs to introduce and qualify new materials, products, processes, and/or equipment in plants and with our customers.
  • Originate and implement Design of Experiments trials to optimize processes.
  • Working knowledge of P&ID’s, their uses and modification.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in chemical engineering and 5+ years’ work experience. Commercial experience as noted in Knowledge and Skills.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge and experience applying the fundamentals of Process Safety Management.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in chemical processes and equipment – specifically: o Reaction chemistry, filtration and distillation.
  • Plant technical support experience.
  • Plant design experience.
  • Process development experience is a plus.
  • Skill in the use of advanced software (Process Modeling experience is a plus).
  • Understanding manufacturing methods, processes, and quality control.
  • Proven effectiveness in working on teams.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Able to self-start and work alone for periods of time.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
